Actor Notes exists as a place where you can come and read curated entries from your fellow actors’ journals. Hopefully you will gain insight by standing on the shoulders of others, and then you will be able to turn right around and contribute to the site with your own “ah ha” moment.
We all know that a journal is an indispensable tool for an actor. Most of us, I’d wager, are less than habitual about using a journal. I know I am.
I recently asked a friend if he wanted to share, back and forth, our discoveries and epiphanies. I thought it would be a nice way to keep each other excited about sussing out our thoughts and getting them written down. It would be similar to exercising with a buddy. You are more likely to keep it up if you are going through it with someone else.
As I was writing this email to my friend, it dawned on me that there is no reason the things we discover as we go along can’t be shared with everyone. And that this idea of pushing each other to think critically about our craft and write it down can benefit so many more people than just the two of us.
If you’ve got a journal entry of your own that you’d like to share, don’t hesitate! Have a look at the Contribute page to find out how to be a part of this exciting new project.
